The Story Begins
Before there was a Starfleet, there were wars! Before these wars there were other wars, and rumors of wars. Man had never learned by his past mistakes. Petty quarrels, bickering, and in many cases a simple word could start up a conflict that would cost many lives. Even before man had reached the stars he was hell bent on destroying his own planet. Is it any wonder then that most alien species looked at man with suspicion? Mankind had ventured into the universe, exploration and colonization were the main requirements, and of course the inevitable contact with alien races..
In the year 2155 when the NX-05 Phoenix II was on a mission to observe and record the last days of a star that was about to nova. The mission brought them very close to the "Delphic Expanse" an area that was jealously protected by the "Xindi".
Inevitably they were attacked by two Xindi Reptilian Warships which had taken exception to their presence. The "Phoenix II" was badly damaged and her captain made a decision to maneuver his ship between the two Xindi warships for one final salvo of all weapons. With the firing of the salvo the two Xindi warships exploded.
Unfortunately for the crew of the Phoenix II the star that they were observing chose that precise moment to terminate it's life the end result being a "Supernova". This cataclysmic explosion created a "rift" in space into which the Phoenix II was drawn. After what inevitably seemed to be certain destruction the crew of the Phoenix II found themselves in a completely unknown & uncharted galaxy. With his ship badly damaged and most of the crew either dead or badly wounded the captain assessed the situation.
The newfound system which appeared to consist of a central "blue dwarf" star or sun consisted of a large planet with an orbiting small moon, and 2 smaller planets. The nearest planet was the larger one and hoping to find a safe haven, they set their course. The landing was rough and all but destroyed the Phoenix II. However the good news was that the planet appeared to have an Earth like environment, complete with lush vegetation and fresh water streams. Surprisingly though they could not find any sign of intelligent life.
Knowing that they could be hundreds if not thousands of light years from Earth the crew came to the realization that they would never see home again, and so the colonization of the planet began. They named the system"Nova"because of the circumstances in which they came to be there. They named one of the smaller planets"Kriton"and the other they named"Calypso". The small moon orbiting the main planet they called"Cassiopeia"and the planet itself they named...
Know then that it is now the year 2552, and almost 400 years since the crew of the Phoenix II first arrived on"Nova Prime"Their descendants have created a new civilization. They have retained the "Starfleet" structure and have once again reached the stars. There ultimate goal? To find their ancestral home, the planet known as Earth.
